This is Halloween

Well I obviously didn't get everything done that I wanted to here, but it will all get done in the end I guess? More Christmas records, and this one is quite poignant! 

Danny Elfman - Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Walt Disney Records - 3rd Press(?) - 2 X LP Picture Disc/? (Hot Topic Exclusive)

I'm a massive fan of Tim Burton, and The Nightmare Before Christmas holds great memories, from childhood right through 'til now. Every year at Christmas I get at least one NBC gift, and this year I got this absolute gem. As the packaging isn't anything too special, let's focus on the records. 

Disc 1 B-Side 

Lock Shock and Barrel adorn this side of the picture disc. The writing along the edge of the record is the track-listing and credits; the information is a little sparse here but you get what you need. 

Disc 2 A-Side 

This record was available exclusively through Hot Topic, although I assume the Disney Store will get copies too. The 1st Press of this record appeared around the 10th anniversary of the film's release. Somewhere around that time too, a run of Hot Topic exclusives were made. All 3 versions are 2XLP Picture Discs and all 12 sides have different art. This record has been out of print for over a decade so it's nice to see it back again. 

Disc 2 B-Side 

Dr. Finkelstein screwing around with some brains. Probably a little less metal than it sounds. Similar credits in the text, along with the track-listing for both sides of this record. 

Again, people get all on their high horse about the sound quality of picture discs, but this sounds great! I don't normally go in for soundtracks, but this is making me want to delve a bit more into that side of life. The Twin Peaks and Donnie Darko scores are something I'll be looking out for I guess. Death Waltz did the Donnie Darko score and I heard they are re-pressing the Twin Peaks soundtrack in 2015 to celebrate season 3 (getting slightly carried away here, but how excited is everyone for that!). 

Although the sleeve is about as plain as you can get, there was this sticker affixed to the cover. I guess they needed to fit the barcode somewhere right? 

The records come in a saddle bag style heavy duty poly sleeve. I looks a little more neat than the standard plastic sleeves and if anything they are a little easier to store. 

I wish I had more to say on this one, but it all kind of explains itself. I wish I knew the pressing information, but I can safely assume at least a few thousand are kicking around?
