True Trans Soul Rebel

I really slack when it comes to writing about stuff that came out recently; I concentrate way more on what might be interesting to write about or look at, and in the process completely forget that I buy new releases. So here we are, something kind of new:

Transgender Dysphoria Blues by Against Me! is high up on my list of favourites for 2014. Such a pissed off record, and still has those big melodies from White Crosses (yes, I like White Crosses, it's probably my favourite AM album. Fight me). This is the Xtra Mile UK exclusive variant/ 1000(?) and is listed as Blue and White Swirl. However, there was also another Blue/ White Swirl copy/ 1000 used as a tour exclusive colour in the States (as well as a picture disc), but from what I can tell, on the US copies the blue is darker.

Back cover/ B-side. I like that the swirl copies are mixed like this, so the A/B sides look different to one another. Also, another difference between the UK and US copies, are that the US copies had a download card inside the sleeve, but the UK copies had a sticker on the dust cover with a download link. Below the track-listing are the Total Treble and XTra Mile logos. I'm not sure if the US Sleeves have the Xtra Mile logo on the sleeve anywhere.

The sleeve is a gate-fold, and so instead of having an insert the inside of the gate-fold holds all the lyrics, thank-you's and some extra art. I hadn't noticed until writing this, but all of the artwork is black and white, as is the art for the 7''s to come out around this record. I now kind of wish I had a black copy, just to keep things colour matched. Saying that, this is a cool variant, and there's no way I'm starting a variant collection with AM! as there are currently 42 pressings of Reinventing Axl Rose (well, I think there is, Alan will know) and I still don't have a copy of every release.

Finally, just a sticker that came on the shrinkwrap. It was awkward getting this LP out of the shrink to photograph, to then fit back in the shrink. Yes, I should buy more polysleeves; but every time I go to buy some, I buy more records instead. You can't blame me right?
