I remember Halloween

Run For Cover have been consistently hitting it out of the park for the past few years really, and this EP is no exception. I held off blogging about it for a couple of posts, but I've been digging it more and and more so it's time to break it out. 

Jack-O-Lantern by Camera Shy. Nick Basset of Nothing/ Whirr. Alexandra Morte of (ex.) Whirr. Nick on guitar and writing the jams, Alexandra providing some incredible lyrics and vocals. Anything that Nick Basset touches seems to be fairly remarkable, and this is really no exception. 

Back cover / B-Side label. With sharp eyes you'll notice a couple of cool things on the back sleeve. One, it was produced by Camera Shy alongside Domenic Palermo from Nothing. Two, the last track 'After Hours' is a cover, originally by The Velvet Underground. It's all kinds of good too. Bottom right displays the RFC logo. 

The variant I ended up with was Orange /314. There was a more common Starburst variant and then the rarest variant was on Black, so I ended up with the middle variant so to speak. Weirdly enough, the only one still available from Run For Cover is the Black. I guess kids were loving those colours. Can't blame them really, this Orange is incredibly vivid and matches the art really closely; and Starburst is always going to look great. There was some variations in that press too (not credited or transitions as such) just to keep things interesting. 

On to the insert. I like how the artwork is all themed around trick-or-treating, as I loved Halloween as a kid, still love it now. But even the colour scheme and candy montage centre labels feel really reminiscent of Halloween. It's weird to explain, but it's more of a feeling when you get something like this. 

Second side of the insert. More photographs, and all the lyrics to the songs bar After Hours, that is duly credited. The bottom photograph is of Basset and Morte, but in an obscure (Camera Shy?) frame where neither face is particularly on show. Nick can be recognised from his collection of tattoos mind. This was the first photograph of the band that I saw, and my first memory of Camera Shy so it's nice to have it for recollection. 

Again, the sleeve is nice and thick here, and again it's a 10'' which i'm a complete sucker for anyway. Packaging, art production and colour ways are all spot on as always with Run For Cover. As for the music, late summer // early autumn acoustic dreamy pop music (such a terrible description) with all the lyrics that will make you swoon.
